A few weeks ago I embarked on my first visit to America, to explore the west coast and to stay with friends down in Texas.
I was originally going to do the trip by myself but down the track I persuaded my younger brother to join me for the adventuring.
We started the trip in the Pacific-Northwest state of Oregon, touching down on a very rainy Sunday night in the city of Portland. However, from the next morning onward we managed to score three fine and clear days, which was very welcome given the amount of exploring we did on foot.
On the second day we took part in a fabulous epicurean excursion with Portland Walking Tours, visiting nine different local vendors and artisan producers. Portland has become a go-to destination for people who love to eat, promoting and upholding a locavore philosophy throughout the city.
From the hundreds of photos I took, it was hard to narrow down the selection to share but here are a few fond memories.
our super cute ‘skyline’ caravan, one of the six custom-built tiny house hotel cluster | NE 11th avenue
Located in an urban lot in the heart of the popular and vibrant Alberta Arts District, Caravan – The Tiny House Hotel provides travellers with the experience of staying in a custom-made tiny house on wheels. Their charming little homes have been designed and all constructed by local builders, and range in size from 120-170 sq.ft. Each tiny house features its own unique artistic elements, coupled with multi-functional, space-efficient furnishings.
If that’s not enough to tempt you, there’s a cosy fire pit in the middle of the caravan cluster for toasting make-your-own, all-you-can-eat S’mores.
